Apex International launches anilox armor protective sleeve cover for printing operations

Anilox Armor protective covers designed to safeguard anilox sleeves during storage, transport, and handling.

Apex International has announced the global launch of Anilox Armor, a protective sleeve cover designed to safeguard anilox sleeves during storage, transport, and handling. The product will be available worldwide through the company and its regional partners beginning March 2026.

Anilox sleeves are precision components used in flexographic and coating processes to control ink and coating transfer. Damage to these components during storage or movement can affect print consistency, create defects, and increase downtime in printing operations.

The Anilox Armor covers are designed to reduce these risks by protecting the engraved surfaces of sleeves from impact, abrasion, and environmental exposure during routine pressroom handling.

Nick Harvey, Technical Director at Apex International, said the covers were developed after feedback from pressrooms about common causes of damage. “We listened to what pressrooms say causes the most costly damage, and we engineered a solution that protects these critical components from impact, abrasion, and environmental stress.”

The covers use impact-resistant composite materials and a precision-fit air-cushioned interior designed to absorb shocks and prevent contact damage to engraved surfaces.

They also include color-coded handling rings to help operators identify sleeves more easily during storage and workflow management across pressroom shifts.

The protective covers are constructed from fibre-reinforced plastic and are designed for repeated use in pressroom environments where sleeves are frequently moved, stored, and cleaned.

According to the company, protecting anilox sleeves during handling can help reduce print defects, operational interruptions, and replacement costs associated with damaged engraved rolls and sleeves.

Anilox Armor will be available in standard sizes suitable for commonly used sleeve and roll diameters, with custom options offered for specific pressroom requirements. The product is scheduled for introduction across markets during 2026.
